Ia merupakan chipset peranti mudah alih pertama di dunia yang dibina berasaskan acuan litografi 7nm. Pemprosesan terbaru ini merupakan hasil kerjasama dengan pengeluar semikonduktor dari Taiwan, TSMC.<\/p>\n<p>Melalui sejumlah 6.9 billion transistor yang dimuatkan ke dalamnya, Kirin 980 menempatkan sebanyak 1.6 kali ganda lebih banyak bilangan transistor berbanding pemprosesan terdahulu Kirin 970. Menurut Huawei, pembuat berasaskan acuan 7nm ini mampu menghasilkan peningkatan prestasi sehingga 20 peratus lebih baik dengan kecekapan penggunaan tenaga hingga 40 peratus.<\/p>\n<p>Masih lagi mengekalkan bilangan teras yang sama &#8211; lapan teras, Kirin 980 merupakan pemprosesan pertama yang dibina menggunakan CPU ARM Cortex-A76 dan GPU Mali-G76. Juga, ia merupakan chipset pertama yang diintegrasikan dengan modem LTE Cat.21, menjadikannya mampu menyokong kelajuan memuat turun sehingga 1.4Gbps.<\/p>\n<p>Apa yang lebih penting, Kirin 980 turut dilengkapkan dengan Unit Pemprosesan Neural Berganda (Dual Neural Processing Unit, Dual NPU). Secara statistik, NPU Berganda ini membolehkan Kirin 980 membuat pengecaman wajah sehingga 4,600 imej setiap minit. Dibandingkan dengan generasinya yang terdahulu, ISP terbaru ini menawarkan peningkatan pengurusan data sehingga 46 peratus.
